Osteotome-Assisted Sinus Augmentation Procedure for Single Implant Placement in the Atrophic Posterior Maxilla

CE Credits: 2
Cost: $29.00

There are a number of techniques available for performing sinus augmentation surgery, which has been reported to be a highly predictable procedure. The osteotome-assisted sinus augmentation procedure is a technique that enables simultaneous placement of implants in the atrophic maxilla. Carefully following specific steps as described in this article results in clinical success.

Applications and Fabrication of Chair-Side Provisional Restorations Utilizing Acrylic Shells and Alginate Impressions

Provisional restoration fabrication is a critical part of successful implant treatment. Several types of direct and indirect provisional restorations are currently used, each with advantages and disadvantages. Fixed provisional restorations are preferred by many clinicians and patients, as they eliminate transmucosal loading and are not removable.

A Surgical Protocol for Guided Bone Regeneration Procedures

CE Credits: 2
Cost: $29.00

Guided bone regeneration is a widely-used technique to augment alveolar ridge defects to allow implant placement and improve the final esthetic outcomes of implant-supported restorations. Since the introduction of guided bone regeneration, which is based on the theory of guided tissue regeneration, scientific evidence has demonstrated its effectiveness in regenerating lost bone. A biologically based technique must be used for clinical success and to avoid the occurrence of treatment complications that could be patient-, material- or technique-related.

Removal of Failed Integrated Implants Using Minimally Invasive Techniques

CE Credits: 2
Cost: $29.00

Failure of osseointegrated implants can occur due to several etiologies, including implant fracture, implant malpositioning and peri-implantitis. Techniques available for the removal of failed implants include counter-ratchet techniques; reverse screw techniques; and the use of piezo tips, high-speed burs and trephines for bone removal around implants. The removal of failed, nonmobile implants requires careful consideration of the least invasive technique that can be used in a given situation as well as the post-removal site.
