DrQuickLook is a Must-Have Imager

Recently, while reading a print version of Dental Product Shopper I came across an advertisement for the dental imager DrQuickLook from QuickLook, Inc. I visited the manufacturer’s web site and I liked what I saw so I purchased the imager for my practice. DrQuickLook is an imager that can be used in live-survey mode or to freeze and magnify a single image. This imager is amazingly simple to use.

Sleep Apnea and TAP Appliance

It seems like more and more patients are reporting that they have been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. Patients with sleep apnea will stop breathing many times during the night which can leave them feeling excessively tired during the day.

Solid Zirconia Crowns

Whenever any of my patients require a full-cast restoration on posterior teeth, I usually use porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns because their clinical track record is well established. However, recently I had a patient fracture the porcelain off of a crown on a molar. This particular patient was also a bruxer so I decided to change their restoration to a solid zirconia or BruxZir crown. The esthetics were excellent and you could not see any difference between the zirconia crown and the adjacent natural teeth.

Using Loupes to Enhance Patient Care

Using loupes or microscopes can greatly enhance the care our patients receive. I did not use any type of magnification in my practice until I started to use lasers. I use hard- and soft-tissue lasers; the Waterlase MD and the LaserSmile by Biolase. Each laser has it’s own wavelength and specific safety glasses can make it a challenge to locate loupes that can be used interchangeably with different lasers.
