SAN ANTONIO – Clinicians need to arm themselves with the latest information and tools to add flexibility to their treatment armentarium, according to a speaker at the 'Updates in Contemporary Dentistry Meeting' held here recently. Robert W. Veis, DDS, who is President of the Appliance Therapy Group, addressed a group of about 200 clinicians and noted that there are a number of treatment approaches that clinicians can use to address a patient’s individual needs. He notes that the typical dental visit involves the patient examination, a full mouth debridement, and perhaps a root scaling and planing if there are periodontal or bleeding issues, “but here’s the problem, it doesn’t always work,” Dr. Veis told the audience. “We all do our best to remove all of the bacteria, but it stays on the teeth and in the epithelial layer of the tissue.”
