Radiographic caries detection is one of the most commonly performed tasks in the dental office. While new image receptors have many advantages over traditional film-based imaging, many clinicians report limitations in the ability to detect caries on radiographic images. The purpose of this presentation is to assess the components of the imaging chain with regard to their impact on caries detection, so that the clinician can optimize radiographic caries detection.
