Abstract

Older adults are the fastest growing segment of the population, making them a growing demographic for dental practices. By 2030, the number of U.S. adults 65 or older will represent 20% of the total U.S. population¹. And more older adults are retaining their natural teeth, resulting in greater need for dental care².

Kevin Hendler, DDS, FASGD

Dr. Kevin Hendler is a full time clinician with a dental practice limited to treating older adults. He has a particular interest in dental care for individuals with dementia, and palliative dental care. He is the Director of Geriatric Dentistry at the Ina T. Allen Dental Center at Emory Wesley Woods Center and an Associate Professor of Medicine and Geriatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Hendler is a fellow of the International College of Dentists and the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry, as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry. He is also a past President of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry, Special Care Dentistry Association and the American Board of Special Care Dentistry. He is presently involved in developing a dental oncology program for individuals with head and neck cancer at the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University.
