Who hasn't smiled and maybe rolled their eyes when a patient starts with, “I read it online?”
It’s always interesting to hear their take on things! Remember, you are the health provider and have the chance to empower these patients with the correct info!
Comprehensive Care in an Era of Dr. Google demands a strong emphasis on empathy, clear communication, and effective patient education.
Healthcare providers must actively listen to patients' concerns, validate their need for information, and confidently correct misconceptions with evidence-based knowledge. Engaging in transparent discussions about treatment options, utilizing reliable diagnostic tools, and showcasing expertise empowers patients to discern credible sources and instills confidence in their care.

Author Bio
Dr. Susy Inoue-Cheng
Dr. Inoue-Cheng has nurtured a deep passion for the dental field from an early age. She began her professional journey as a Dental Assistant and graduated with honours from Paulista University. After graduating from the General Dentistry program, she furthered her education by obtaining a Diploma in Endodontics and a Master’s degree.
As the founder of a private practice in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Dr. Susy takes great pride in implementing a comprehensive approach to patient care. With a commitment spanning over 25 years, she has guided her patients toward achieving their oral health objectives. Dr. Susy is dedicated to professional growth and continually seeks opportunities to enhance her skills. Her post-graduate training encompasses a variety of specialties, including Laser Dentistry, Orthodontics, Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), and the intricate relationship between sleep breathing disorders (SBD) and oral health, among other interests.
