Educational Objectives

During this session, Dr. Berant will also help you:

  • Explain the definition of MID and how and when to best employ it in your practice
  • Appreciate the available technology to diagnose and treat patients with an MID mindset
  • Explore the role CBCT has in multidisciplinary treatment planning
  • Determine when MID is recommended vs. when it is not necessarily necessary

Abstract

“Minimally invasive” is a term used quite often in the dental profession — but how many clinicians are truly leveraging minimally invasive dentistry (MID) to provide patients with optimal treatment planning and care? The use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and other digital technologies is a crucial first step in helping practitioners visualize hard and soft tissue conditions, airway concerns and possible pathologies in high detail, leading to better planning, increased efficiency and more predictable outcomes.

Join Dr. Daniel Berant, a double board-certified specialist in periodontics and orthodontics, for a discussion on the importance of MID and how to differentiate claims of “minimally invasive” from reality. Through case reviews spanning both periodontal and orthodontic treatment, Dr. Berant will discuss how CBCT and other digital technologies can help you determine when MID is beneficial and when another treatment option should be considered.
