Unlock the Power of MUM for Oral Pain Relief and Healing
Educational Objectives
After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify and describe oral inflammatory conditions such as angular cheilitis, herpes lesions, aphthous ulcers, abscesses, necrotizing diseases, traumatic injuries, lichen planus, pemphigus, oral mucositis, and stomatitis.
- Educate patients on the etiology, progression, and oral effects of inflammatory conditions.
- Apply and dispense Acyclovir MUM to improve a patient’s quality of life when afflicted by inflammatory lesions and conditions.
Abstract
Oral pain has many origins. Conditions and lesions that illicit an inflammatory response are often painful and adversely affect a patient’s quality of life. The oral health provider is in an ideal position to identify and intervene with patient education and therapeutic remedies applied both in-office and at-home. This course will present a new and innovative pharmacological agent that can provide healing and immediate pain relief for many common oral inflammatory ailments called Acyclonine MUM. The etiology, prevalence, and appearance of oral inflammatory conditions will be discussed to help dental professionals incorporate individualized patient recommendations into their care plans.

Lisa Mayo, MHA, BSDH, RDH
Lisa Mayo, MHA, BSDH, RDH graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Baylor College of Dentistry and a master’s in healthcare administration from Ohio University. She serves as the academic chair of dental hygiene, dental assisting, and surgical technology at Dallas College. Lisa is also the author of Power Instrumentation for the Dental Professional, published by Jones & Bartlett in 2023.
