Abstract

This continuing education program outlines opioid prescribing and non-opioid prescribing principles for general dentists and dental specialists.

This program will demonstrate safe and competent use of opioids and non-opioids for managing acute moderate to severe dental pain. The course provides a plethora of information on minimizing opioid abuse, careful patient assessment along with medical history/informed consent, screening patients for substance use disorders, prescription monitoring programs and federal regulations/guidelines.

Prescribing strategies using Non-Opioid medications will be presented so you can adapt them into your dental practice.  Make the move to reduce or possibly eliminate the use of Opioids in your practice.

Finally, Narcotic Overdose and Benzodiazepine Overdose treatment will be presented for you and your team so you ARE ready for these emergencies.
