Abstract

In this course, we will discuss the barriers offices often encounter when transitioning from 2D imaging to 3D imaging and explore ways to overcome them. We will discuss when to take a CBCT, getting your patients to accept the scan, and factors that contribute to taking a great scan. To complement this, we will discuss tips for learning how to navigate the software and strategies to help understand what you are revealing in images that expose the third dimension.

Author Bio

Dr. Martina Parrone

Dr. Martina Parrone graduated from the University of the Pacific in 2003. After practicing general dentistry for five years, managing dental clinics, and consulting for a dental insurance company, she completed a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. In addition to her certificate, she achieved a Masters in Dental Science with a focus in Dental Radiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Dr. Parrone is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR). In addition to maintaining a private practice and reviewing for Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, and Oral Radiology (OOOO) journal, she enjoys lecturing nationally on various radiology topics, including cross-sectional anatomy, 3D imaging for endodontic evaluation, radiographic pathology, and general information regarding cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
