Abstract
There are a variety of ceramic crown materials available today for both chairside (CAD/CAM) milling as well as for commercial laboratories. This course will briefly run through those materials and explain why they are better for certain clinical situations. Clinical preparation for these newer materials requires very specific preparation designs to help the ceramics last for a long time while conserving much-needed tooth structure. Why not make things as easy as possible for the clinician to deliver these preparations predictably from tooth to tooth and crown to crown? Selecting the correct burs to achieve the predictable preparation designs will make the task of preparing the tooth simple. You will learn the 3-bur principle for each ceramic material to be able to streamline your bur choices.
