Educational Objectives

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify several best cement choices for each type of popular restorative material
  • Recognize how retention and resistance form can effect the choice of cement material
  • Describe the techniques to properly prepare the different types of indirect material for delivery
  • Clinically implement proper techniques and choices to optimize the long term success of indirect restorations using current cement materials.

Abstract

One of the most common procedures in every general practice is the delivery of an indirect fabricated restoration. Currently in dentistry we have a number of different materials used to fabricate these restorations. These materials each have different options to optimize the long term success of the cementation process. Additionally, there are a number of different categories of cements available to today's clinician. Understanding the strengths and weakness of these cements in combination of the type of material to be delivered can effect the quality and longevity of the restoration. Currently there is no one universal cement for all different types of restorations. But there are materials that can be better choices in each individual situation. This course is designed to discuss the more popular types of indirect materials and review the different cement options for each material. Additionally, techniques to properly prepare each material for cementation will be reviewed. The attendee will leave more confident in their clinical choices for delivery of indirect restorations and a better understanding of the current categories of cement materials.
