After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the uses of stem cells
  • List the differences between stem cell types
  • Describe the function of stem cells
  • Explain to patients how stem cell banking works

Abstract

Regenerative stem cell therapies are emerging as the future of medicine. To take advantage of these medical advancements, people will need access to stem cells; ideally their own. A valuable new source of stem cells has been discovered in the pulps of healthy extracted teeth. These cells have a high proliferation rate, enormous differentiation potential and, importantly, are harvested non-invasively. Through stem cell banking, dental pulp stem cells derived from primary teeth and wisdom teeth can be affordably cryopreserved for decades, until needed for use later in life. This webinar explains what dental pulp stem cells are and the process of stem cell banking, as well as the multitude of emerging regenerative therapies that are bridging the fields of dentistry and medicine.
