Effective pain management is a fundamental responsibility of modern dental practice and a key driver of patient comfort, clinical efficiency, and treatment outcomes. Managing pain across the full continuum of care—before, during, and after treatment—requires an evidence-based, practical approach.

This clinically focused course reviews strategies for optimizing dental pain control, including the preoperative use of dexamethasone, intraoperative enhancement of anesthetic effectiveness using buffered local anesthesia, and postoperative pain management based on current guidelines utilizing ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Emphasis is placed on practical application and integration into everyday dental practice.

After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify evidence-based strategies for managing dental pain in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care.

  • Describe the clinical rationale and appropriate use of dexamethasone for modulation of pain, swelling, and trismus.

  • Apply techniques to improve intraoperative pain control through the use of buffered local anesthesia.

  • Select appropriate postoperative analgesic regimens based on current evidence-based guidelines.
