You have shaped the canals, irrigated thoroughly, and reached working length—but how do you assess what remains before you obturate? For general dentists, this uncertainty can make an otherwise well-executed root canal feel less predictable.
This clinically focused webinar explores the relationship between residual infection and endodontic healing, then examines how chairside adenosine triphosphate (ATP) testing may add useful information to your disinfection workflow. Through clinical examples and a balanced review of peer-reviewed research, we will connect instrumentation, irrigant delivery, activation, and intracanal sampling to the decisions you make before obturation.
You will discover what ATP readings can—and cannot—tell you, how sampling conditions affect interpretation, and when findings should prompt reassessment of your cleaning protocol. We will also distinguish evidence supporting bacterial reduction from evidence demonstrating improved long-term treatment outcomes.
Designed for the realities of general practice, this session will help you build a more consistent approach to disinfection, interpret additional chairside information thoughtfully, and make better-informed treatment decisions. Leave with a practical framework for addressing the question: “Have I done enough before I fill?”
By attending this webinar you will learn how to:
Analyze the relationship between residual intracanal infection and endodontic healing, distinguishing microbial reduction from demonstrated long-term treatment success.
Identify potential sources of high ATP readings that can affect the clinical outcome.
Use a systematic approach to integrating irrigation, activation, intracanal sampling, and reassessment into pre-obturation decision-making.
