Abstract

This HIPAA Compliance Training course provides healthcare professionals, administrators, and office staff with a comprehensive understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. The course covers key aspects of privacy, security, and breach notification rules, ensuring that participants gain  the necessary knowledge to protect Protected Health Information (PHI). Topics include identifying HIPAA violations, understanding penalty structures, implementing cybersecurity  best practices, and navigating updates in HIPAA laws for 2025. Participants will also learn about state-specific compliance requirements, such as  Texas HB 300, and special considerations for dental offices, teledentistry, and electronic health records. By the end of this course, learners will  be equipped with the tools to mitigate data breaches, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of patient data protection within  their healthcare practices.

Katie Rivard, AAS, LDA, CDA, DISIPC

Katie Rivard, AAS, LDA, CDA, DISIPC is a skilled OSHA and HIPAA educator and evaluator, with experience managing a 40+ location dental practice in Minnesota. She completed a 700-hour training program with the American Academy of Dental OSHA Compliance Specialists and participates in 4,500 hours of annual training on new laws, updates, and strategic planning. An active member of OSAP since 2019, Katie also holds the prestigious Dale Foundation Dental Infection Control Certification. Her extensive expertise ensures compliance and safety in dental practices.
